

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Andrew "Andy" Doss, who passed away on September 9, 2024, at the age of 47, at the Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio. Andy was a beloved brother, a cherished friend, a respected colleague, and a source of unwavering support to all who knew him. His deep faith guided him throughout his life, providing strength, wisdom, and purpose in everything he did.
Born on August 4, 1977, Andy grew into a person who made a lasting impact on countless lives. For the last 25 years, he dedicated himself to shaping the future of both young and old through his work in the education system. His career spanned Bloom-Carroll Local Schools, Fairfield Union Local Schools, and most recently, Pickerington Local Schools. Andy also served as an adjunct professor at Columbus State Community College, where he shared his knowledge and passion for technology with students eager to learn. Throughout his career, Andy mentored countless young people, guiding them with wisdom, care, and encouragement. His influence will continue to be felt in the lives of those he supported and believed in.
Andy was also a dedicated scholar, pursuing higher education to better serve his passion for technology and education. He earned a Master's Degree in Information and Telecommunication Systems (MITS) from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, in 2019. Prior to that, he completed a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology from Western Governors University in 2017 and an Associate Degree in Computer Science Technology from Ohio University—Lancaster in 2014.
Andy will be remembered for his boundless generosity, his infectious optimism, and his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others. Whether in the school, the office, or out in the community, Andy’s joyful spirit, guided by his faith, radiated to everyone around him, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
Andy is survived by his brother, Chris, and his loyal dog, Yogi. His absence leaves a profound void, but his legacy of kindness, generosity, mentorship, and dedication to education will continue to inspire those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 13th, 2024, at Real Church, 5780 Reynoldsburg-Baltimore Rd., Pickerington, OH, 43147. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Real Church or the Fairfield Area Humane Society, 1721 Granville Pike, PO Box 1109, Lancaster, OH 43130, in Andy's memory. A private burial will take place at a later date at Forest Rose Cemetery. Halteman-Fett-Dyer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
