Janelle Rose Engle 89 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Friday July 11, 2025, at the Pickering House. Janelle was born on February 4, 1936, in Lancaster, Ohio, the youngest daughter of Mildred and Leo Butler. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1954. Janelle married the love of her life, Richard Engle on November 17, 1956. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served as a member of the church council, sang in the senior choir and helped the women of the church with various projects. Janelle worked for many years in the insurance business and retired from State Farm in 2000. She was also the bookkeeper for her husband’s business. Janelle enjoyed traveling. She and her husband cruised to many different countries around the world. They also enjoyed their winter home in Fort Myers, FL. Janelle is survived by her husband, Richard Engle, sister-in-law, Beverly Engle and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, Alberta (Raymond) Morehart, Ireta (Martin) Ewing and Lura (Robert) Clelland, Ronald Engle. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday July 17, 2025, at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Pastor Vicky Coombs officiating. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held two hours prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday.
