

Jeff was born in Lancaster, Ohio to Matthew R. and Betty L. (Harvey) Bloom on January 12, 1956. He Was a graduate of Lancaster High School Class of 1974. He died suddenly at home on November 8, 2025.
Jeff was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and crafted several furniture items to the Church over the years.
He was a beloved brother to his sister, Susan, his sister-in-law Janice, devoted to his nephew Jeffrey J. and wife Cerina. He was also devoted to his great nephew Matthew and great niece Elise. He also leaves behind numerous cousins and friends.
Jeff was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Don, grandparents, aunts, uncles and several cousins.
Jeff loved nature of all types and could identify almost any plant, tree or type of wildlife. He fed the birds and deer at home and at the farm. He loved to hunt, trap and fish. In later years his favorite form of hunting was done via trail cam. He often gazed at the night skies looking at the stars and planets.
Jeff also had a deep love of history – the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, World War I and II and the cultures of the southwest. He was the reigning trivia champion in the family regarding the history of Fairfield County.
Jeff loved visiting the National Parks when traveling in the western states but his trip to Alaska was a highlight.
Jeff retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He had previously worked for the Ohio Industrial Commission and Diamond Electronics. He was a volunteer for over 25 years for the Lancaster Festival and a long time member of the Fairfield County Antique Tractor Club.
Jeff was known for his dedication to friends and family. He always treated others the way he would want to be treated and valued the friendships he had with so many.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Doctors and Nurses who cared for him over the years and to the Emergency Medical Technicians and the Lancaster Police Department who responded to our call for assistance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, the Fairfield County Antique Tractor Club or the American Heart Association in his memory.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 1PM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mark Raddatz officiating. Burial is to follow at Forest Rose Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday from 11AM-1PM at the funeral home.
