Larry Laszlo Plescher

Larry was born in Pécs, Hungary, in 1938. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1951, embracing the opportunities of his new home while never forgetting his Hungarian roots.

He graduated from New Concord High School in 1957, where he excelled as a three-sport athlete, participating in football, basketball, and track and field. In 1958, Larry proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving aboard a destroyer and in Special Services. During his military service, he also played football and basketball for the Navy's East Atlantic Coast Division.

In 1959, Larry married the love of his life, Pam Courtney, beginning a devoted partnership that would span more than six decades and serve as the foundation of a loving family.

Larry dedicated 36 years to Anchor Hocking, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of those around him through his hard work, dependability, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

A lifelong servant to his community, Larry generously shared his time and talents through many organizations. He served as Past President of the Rushville Lions Club, Past Chairman of the Lancaster Elks Lodge, and as an Elder and Usher at First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. His faith, leadership, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Larry also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and golfing with family and friends. Nothing brought him greater happiness than cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events, school activities, and special occasions. He took great pride in their accomplishments and treasured every opportunity to be a part of their lives.

Above all else, Larry cherished his family. He is survived by his children, Misty (Eric) Coakley, Brady (Holly) Plescher, and Chad (Kayla) Plescher; his grandchildren, Courtney (David) Boyer, Morgan (Josh) MacGregor, Jared (Crystal) Plescher, Ellyn Plescher, Alex Plescher, and Maggie Plescher; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Korbin, Karlyn, Aubrey, Emerson, Everly, Rowan, and Blake. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Tony Courtney and brother-in-law Dan Kennedy; his nephew, Tyler Courtney; his cousin, Eydie (Frank) Schindler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pam (Courtney) Plescher; his parents, Laszlo and Mary Plescher; his sisters, Mary Francis and Elizabeth Kennedy; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aubrey and Martha Courtney.

Larry will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his love of sports, fishing, and golf, his honorable military service, his dedication to his community, and the kindness and integrity that defined his life. He found his greatest joy in supporting and celebrating his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. His life was a testament to service, faith, family, and friendship, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, 436 N. Broad Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery at approximately 1:45 p.m. in recognition of Larry's service in the United States Navy. Following the cemetery service, family and friends are invited to continue celebrating Larry's life and sharing memories at the American Legion from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster or to the Rushville Lions Club in memory of Larry and his lifelong commitment to faith, fellowship, and service to others.
