Lois Ann Bowers

Lois Ann Bowers, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026. She was born on September 2, 1941, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to the late Fay and Lydia Casper. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Chilton, her dear sisters Fern and Rene and her Golden Retriever companions Ginger I & II. Lois is survived by her children, grandchildren and sister Jan; Her daughter, Barb (Mike) Summers, sons David (Deena) Bowers and Darrin (Katje)Bowers; grandchildren Garrett and Meredith Hood (Dylan Forsythe); Matt and Bryan Summers; Reid and Caroline Bowers; Kenzie, Bailee, Sammi, and Emma Bowers.

Lois graduated from Greenway High School in 1960, attended Itasca Junior College, then moved to Washington DC where she worked for the FBI. While living in DC, she met Chilton who was visiting the area while in the Army and stationed at Ft Bragg, NC. They fell in love and were engaged and married in 1961 in Dillon, SC. They relocated to Ohio to start their family in 1964. Lois worked at Fairfield National Bank, Forest Rose School, Fairfield Medical Center and Danison Monument over the next 50 plus years and retired from Danison Monument with Chilton in 2019.

Lois was very proud of and dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Her refrigerator was always filled with pictures of her family and she most enjoyed holidays, family reunions and gardening. Having grown up in Minnesota, she always noted how Ohio doesn’t know what a lot of snow looks like!

After Chilton passed, Lois moved to Primrose and then to The Springs at Wyandot Trail. She made many new friends in both places and was always thankful for those friendships.

Visitation is to be held on September 22nd, 2026 from 2PM-6PM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lois’s name to her son’s Pelotonia cycling team. https://pelotonia.org/profile/DB0003
