

Mabel “Marlene” Hurst-Ream was born on July 17, 1937, and was a graduate of Logan High School. She lived a full life of 88 great years and passed away peacefully at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law Darren & Amy Hurst on Hurst Hill Road, Sugar Grove on November 3, 2025.
Marlene was a career housewife, mother and grandmother and a member of New Life Christian Center in Lancaster. She lived a life that always put God first and then her family. She loved cooking and baking. She loved to host big family dinners several times a year and especially on Thanksgiving and a Christmas party for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Derek Andrew, Dwayne Eric (Gloria), Darren Wayne (Amy), & Dannelle Andrea (James) Ashley all of Hurst Hill Road, Sugar Grove. Grandchildren, Jordan (Kathryn), Eric, Devin (Marie), Austin, Cullen (Ashley), Sierra, Victoria, Taylor (Brian) Garot, Derek, Jr., Jacob, Samantha, Denise, Brooke; and 20 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Jack and Jeff Souders and three sisters, Cheryl Howard, Sheila Calder, and Barbara (Terry) Perry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pearley Andrew Hurst, Jr., Benjamin Ream, daughter, Marlene Denise Hurst and parents, Roscoe Flemon Souders and Mabel Souders.
Friends may call Friday, November 7th from 5:00-8:00PM at New Life Christian Center and 1 hour prior to service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 8th at New Life Christian Center, Lancaster, Ohio with Pastor Gary Keller officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
