Margaret Ruth Morrison

Margaret Ruth Morrison, 97 of Canal Winchester, died peacefully on May 16, 2025, after a short stay at Country Lane Gardens Nursing Center in Thornville, with a chaplain and daughter, Beverly, at her side. Margaret was born in Ashville, Ohio on March 27, 1928, to the late Harold and Carrie (Clark) Shumaker. She attended Berne Union and Crawfis schools in Sugar Grove, Ohio. She was excellent at math, spelling, and card games. She enjoyed cruises, travelled to Alaska, the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, and many other U.S. states. Margaret loved people, cooking, fishing, camping, gardening, hunting mushrooms, playing cards, dancing, Elvis, and country music. She often travelled with her childhood friend and sister-in-law, Ellen Boggs. She joined many groups with senior centers, the Moose, and American Legions. She was always known as a feisty character, who was the life of the party.

Margaret is survived by her children, Charles Franklin (Barbara) Morrison and Beverly Ann Forson; grandchildren, Pamela Harris, Dustin Morrison, Eric (Stephanie) Forson, and Angie (Gerardo) Hernandez; great-grandchildren, Lyza Forson, Crew Forson, Alexa Burks and Marcy (Damien) Ortiz; great-great-grandchildren, Ella Knowlton, Austin Burks, Kaiya Ortiz, Isaiah Ortiz, and Atticus Ortiz; Nieces and Nephews, Janice Gullick, Sharon Lane, Steve (Cricket) Shumaker, Robert Schumacher, Gary Schumacher, Debbie Schumacher, Michelle (Mickey) Brown, and Shirley Parsley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Shumaker and Carrie (Clark Shumaker) Benedict; brothers, Merle and Fred Shumaker; sister, Anna Pearl Schumacher Leyndecker; sons, Richard and Robert Morrison; daughter-in-law, Karen Morrison; granddaughter, Julie Morrison; nieces, Joyce Newsom, Lois Spangler, and Bernice Silvers; grandson-in-law, Gerardo Hernandez Perez.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 1PM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME (436 N. Broad St Lancaster, OH). Burial is to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11AM-1PM.
