Mariam Stampfle, 97, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Arbors at Carroll. Mariam was born in Paris, France to the late Mohamed and Alexandra Alieff. She studied sculpture in Paris, photography and art composition at Ohio University and at the College of Art and Design. Mariam participated in several workshops dealing in oils with Helen Va Wyck, pastels with Daniel Green and watercolors with L. McLelland, Bob Brubacker, Fred Leach, Frank Webb & Chapman. One of her paintings, “Rock Mill Bridge” in oils is published in the “Artists-USA” seventh edition, a copy of which is in the Library of Congress. Mariam had her own studio and taught classes for many years.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Banks, of Reynoldsburg, and Alexandre Pavluck, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Alex Banks, of New Albany, Alex Pavluck, of Atlanta, GA, and Laura Baffa, of Coco Beach, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Stampfle, and her two sisters from Paris.
Dignity Cremation is to take place through the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME.
