Marie Herold Briggs, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Thursday November, 29th at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Earl Wayne Briggs and son, Gregory Wayne Briggs. She is survived by daughter, Kathy (Briggs) Thompson, grandchildren Jason & Andrea (Winders) Headley, Jesse & Alisha (Thompson) Taylor and Tabitha Murphy. She lived to enjoy five great-grandchildren, Ian & Seth Headley, Wyatt & Samantha Taylor and Gwendlyn Murphy. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Marie enjoyed raising her children to love camping and the outdoors. She was blessed to be able to visit all 50 states. She spent her retirement years gardening, reading and volunteering and spending the Ohio winter months in Vero Beach Florida. She worked at Federated Trust Banking for over 26 years. She was promoted several times, rising from receptionist up to assistant to the VP and Coordinator of the Call Center. As one of the found members of Lancaster United Brethren Church. Marie directed the choir, was worship leader, as well as youth superintendent and serving on several committees. She remained active with the music department many years after her “retirement”.
Calling hours will be at Halteman-Fett and Dyer on Sunday, December 4 from 1-3pm. The following Monday, December 5th there will be short calling hour from 11-12 at Lancaster United Brethren Church, 1125 Pleasantville Rd, Lancaster OH, with funeral service at 12 noon. After the service there will be a procession to Maple Grove Cemetery for a graveside service. All are welcome to attend. Flowers can be sent to Halteman-Fett and Dyer and any donations can be sent to Lancaster United Brethren Church. She was a wonderful, godly woman who will be greatly missed.
