Martha Fischer, born April 21, 1950, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at her nursing home in Lancaster, Ohio. Martha lived a vibrant, love-filled, inspiring life, touching the hearts of all who knew her with her warmth and boundless acceptance.
Her journey took her to many places, including Louisville, KY; Boulder, CO; Sarasota, FL; Burbank, CA; Mt. Holly, NJ; Queens, NY; and Canal Winchester, OH. Each city was a chapter in her story, filled with connections and cherished memories. Martha’s passion in life was teaching others how to live a fun-loving, love-filled life, embracing everyone for who they were, faults and all. She loved dancing and listening to jazz, easy rock, and 80s pop, with the Beatles being her favorite band, their music a constant soundtrack to her joyful spirit.
Martha was married to Kenneth Rolli Fischer, who preceded her in death in the early 1980s. Though their marriage ended in divorce, their love endured until Martha’s final days. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Owen Donald Anderson and Georgia Anderson (Getig).
Martha’s professional life was defined by service. She ran the food service company for all public schools in Sarasota County for 10 years, ensuring children were nourished. She then dedicated a decade to social work with Family Services in Camden, NJ, caring for inner-city foster care children. Later, she found joy in nurturing young children at daycare centers, including Sunny Side Childcare in Lithopolis, OH. Her devotion to family led her to Mt. Holly, NJ, to help raise her two eldest granddaughters, and to Queens, NY, for three years to care for her third granddaughter.
Martha is survived by her two sisters, Ardis Moonlight and Kay Corum; her brother-in-law, Pete Corum; her daughter, Alexandra Fischer; her son, Quinn Fischer; her daughter-in-law Michelle Fischer; her nieces, Kari McCormack and Lisa Corum; her six grandchildren, Megan and David Lewis, Ellyana Fischer, Scarlett Fischer, Khaleb Rykard, and Aryanna Rykard; her two great-grandchildren, Theodore and Henry Lewis; her great-nephew Matthew Sharpstene; her great-nieces Sarah Cornelius, and Harper Newel; a plethora of others she would consider family (the Fischers and Edlings); and all of her lifelong friends (too many to list).
Martha’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering acceptance. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, forever dancing to the rhythm of the Universe.
A visitation for Martha will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, 436 North Broad Street, Lancaster, OH 43130, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
