Mary M Brunney

LANCASTER: Mary Margaret Brunney, 91, longtime resident of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Lanfair Nursing Care Center. Mary, along with her niece, Faith, operated a ceramic shop for many years where they loved to share their passion for crafting works of art. Mary and her husband Johnny were members of the Church of Good Hope where they served as treasurers. Most of all, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays when she could show off her culinary skills.

Mary is survived by the most important people in her life, sons John, James (Shannon) and Mark (Stephanie) Brunney; grandchildren Rebecca, Paul, Sara, Ian, Hillary, Zene and Autumn; nieces Faith Steere, Dianne Persing, Pamela Campbell and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence “Johnny” Brunney; son, Stephen Brunney; grandson John Brunney, Jr.; parents Frank and Garnet (Thress) Dicken; brothers Howard and Richard Dicken; and sisters Ruth Cotton, Opal Rienschield and Verna Clay.

The family will gather for a small celebration at HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME on Friday, August 25th at 1:00 pm. Connie Dowling will officiate. Burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Contributions in Mary’s name can be sent to Pickering House, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
