Mattie Louella Sheline, 86 of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, July 8th, 2023 at the Pickering House after a 3 year battle with breast cancer. Mattie was born Easter Sunday, March 28th, 1937 at Irish Ridge near Corning, Ohio to the late Arthur (Doc) and Maude (Martin) Murphy. She was a 1954 graduate of Corning High School and a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Lancaster.
At the age of 42, Mattie fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse. She worked at Lancaster Hospital and Crites and Johnson’s Nursing Homes for many years. She later worked with her husband in the antique market business.
Mattie is survived by her sister, Mary (Dave) Manring; her children, Lynn (Mike) Lutz, Tammy (Don) Elkins, and Lorrie (Jeff) McCandlish; grandchildren, Heather, Tiffany, Tyler, Justin, Daniea, Lisa, and Chris; and her great-grandchildren, Gabe, Claire, Kaia, Ferox, Lily, Lucy, Levi, Logan, Landon, and Lella.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Sheline, her husband Patrick Sheline, and her siblings, Howard, Lee, Walter, Marie, Ruth, Helen and Darinda.
A Private Graveside Service will be held by the family at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
