Rev. Dr. Max Edward Tucker

The Reverend Dr. Max Edward Tucker born June 4, 1932, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 29, 2025, in Lancaster, Ohio. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio to Joseph and Lorna Belle (Johnson) Tucker. Preceded in death his loving wife of 71 years, Phyllis (Culver) Tucker, and son Timothy Tucker.

Survived by his son Keith (Karen) Tucker and daughter-in-law Lorna Tucker. Grandchildren Alicia (Daniel) Kirkland, Andrew Tucker, Stephanie (Aaron) McManus, and Peter (Grace) Tucker. Great grandchildren Max Tucker, Luke, and Jonathan Kirkland.

Max graduated from Lancaster High School, attended Practical Bible College in Johnson City, NY and graduated from the first graduating class of Cedarville College (Cedarville University) in 1953.

Max has been in the pastorate ministry for over 70 years. Max and Phyllis have been involved in seven church building programs and church planting ministries across the country. Max and Phyllis held evangelistic meetings and conferences throughout the United States, Canada, Central America, Latin America, and Africa. Once Max retired, he took on the position of Church Planting Coordinator and Consultant for the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches.

Even though he had been bedridden for the last 3 years he made it a point to make sure everyone he met knew of the saving grace of his loving Savior. He made a meaningful impact on people of all ages throughout the years.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at Buckeye Care & Rehabilitation and Fairhope Hospice for the loving care of Max. Special thank you to the church family at Calvary Baptist Church for their love, care, and many visits.

Funeral service will be held November 7, at 11 am officiated by Pastor Mark Spradling. Family will greet visitors at 10:00 am at Halteman-Fett at 436 North Broad Street, Lancaster, OH 43130. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery.
