Born June 16, 1923, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, Mildred was the daughter of the late George Washington and Leva Elisabeth (Bunting) Quillen. She was also preceded in death by her spouse Frederick Quillen and their beloved son, George Frederick Quillen, and her eight siblings.
Millie, as she was fondly known by family and friends, was a dedicated homemaker who poured love and care into her family. She was an active member of the Calvary Episcopal Church during her earlier years, where she formed lasting friendships and memories. Millie had a creative spirit and was an avid crafter, finding joy in making beautiful things with her hands. She also had a special affection for nature, often spending time watching the hummingbirds that visited her garden.
Above all, Millie’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will live on in their hearts.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Smith of Lancaster, Ohio; four grandchildren: Tammy Grub, Charles Frederick Smith, Leisa Lynn Marcum, and Wendy Dee Trace; 12 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to celebrate Millie’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 13, at Ashland Cemetery. A visitation will take place earlier that day, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland.
