Myrna L. Kennedy Figgins, born December 16th, 1936, who was taken from us far too soon on November 18th, 2022. Myrna is survived by her daughter, Kristi (Figgins) Motsch, three grandchildren, Madison Welker (Michael), Molly Figgins, Klayton Figgins, and two great granddaughters, Eilis and Saoirse Welker. Preceded in death by her loving parents, Andrew and Phyllis (Christy) Kennedy, brothers Don and Dale Kennedy, Sister Betty Kennedy, husband Richard Figgins, and son, Kraig Figgins.
Myrna graduated from Ohio University and was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Myrna dedicated much of her life to teaching both Home Economics and Kindergarten in Lancaster City Schools. She was a beloved educator and was known for her love of children's books, antiques, and most of all, her loyalty to those she loved. She served as an avid supporter of the arts in the Lancaster community, and served as The Director of the Georgian Museum. Upon her retirement, Myrna could be found either in her kitchen or her extensive gardens. Her talent for cooking and baking lives on through treasured family recipes she held dear. Her love of gardening was shared by her husband Richard, and the two could often be found out on their property, enjoying the fruits of their labor. Myrna will sorely be missed, but her legacy will continue for many generations to come. Those closest to Myrna will treasure the many fond memories she gifted them throughout her life. A memorial service will be held in Myrna's honor at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lancaster on Sunday, December 11th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fairfield Heritage Association. Loved ones ask that attendees bring a special memory they cherish of Myrna to be commemorated in a book to honor the many lives she touched.
