

Nancy Ann Benson, July 14th, 1953 - February 18th, 2025, passed away at the age of 71 after a short but hard-fought illness. Born in Minneapolis and raised in Brooklyn Center, MN, she was the oldest child of 8 children to William and Barbara Gerber. She attended Ascension grade school in Minneapolis and Grace High School in Fridley, MN. She married Brian Benson in May 1974 and lived in Maple Grove, MN until moving to Canal Winchester, Ohio in 1992. She died at Select Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Preceded in death by parents, Bill and Barb Gerber, brothers Paul and Gerard, sister, Mary Jane, father and mother -in-law, Victor and Lorraine Benson, sister-in-law, Vicki Karnauskas. Survived by her husband of 50 years, Brian, children, Robert, and Angela Grossnickle (Dustin), the 3 loves of her life, her grandchildren, William, Ava, and Isla Grossnickle. Siblings Peter (Deb) Gerber, Sally Gerber, Patrick (Annamarie) Gerber, Mary Goman (Joe), sister in-law, Diane Barry; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Nancy was a proud and devoted wife, mom, and grandma. She enjoyed being on the lakes whether in Minnesota on Horseshoe Lake or on Buckeye Lake in Ohio. She loved chips and dip, football season, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, going to the casino with Brian, watching Dancing with the Stars, spending time poolside with Bob at his condo in Columbus, but nothing brought her more joy than being a grandma to William, Ava, and Isla who she loved more than anything in the world. She was an excellent cook and created many special memories and holiday traditions for her family that will be cherished forever. She will be greatly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday March 3, 2025 at St Bernadette Catholic Church, 1343 Wheeling Road Lancaster, Ohio with Father Daniel Olvera as celebrant.
Friends may visit Sunday March 2 from 12-2 PM at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home.
