Nelda Anne Benson, age 89, of Carroll, OH, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026 with family by her side. She was born on November 26, 1936, in Hodge, Louisiana, to Hamilton McGhee Wisdom and Ola Delma Baker Wisdom. Nelda was one of eight children. Nelda was known for her kind heart, strong faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, and love for her family. She loved sewing, cooking, playing piano, floristry, and family gatherings and will be remembered for the love she gave everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Halvin D. “Jack” Benson, and her son, James D. “Jimmy” Benson. She is survived by her children, Randy (Glenna) and John; grandchildren Jack, Kevin, Drew, Angie, Dovie, and Heather; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The family held a private funeral service on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Betzer Cemetery, Carroll, Ohio, with Pastor Phil Whitfield officiating. The family would like to thank the Altercare Lanfair, especially the Speret Hall family for the care and love our mother and grandmother received.
