Raymond J. Trax, 83, of Lancaster passed away on July 6, 2018. He was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on November 22, 1934 to the late Raymond Lewis and Margaret Smith Trax. He is a graduate of Wellsburg High School in West Virginia and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
He is retired from AT&T with 37 years of service and was a Lancaster City Schools bus driver for 15 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and past member of Lancaster Elks Lodge #570, serving as the Exalted Ruler. Ray was a proud West Virginia Mountaineers fan and loved the game of golf.
Ray is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Burre Trax, of Lancaster; sons, Kevin (Danette) of Las Vegas, NV, Brian of Glendale, WV, Greg of Moundsville, WV, daughter, Karen of Raleigh NC; step-sons, Craig (Sarah) Burre, Scott (Kristi) Burre, Grandchildren, Carri, Courtnie, Katy, Matthew, Vincent, Nathan, Kate, and Chase; and two Great Grandchildren; Brother Bob (Nadine) Trax of Homer Glen, IL; sister, Peggy (Bill) McClure of Wheeling, WV; brother-in-law, Bob Lasky of West Wyoming, PA many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Lasky.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Cheryl Foulk officiating. Burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
