

Rebecca Ann Wohlfarth, 85, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on October 5, 2026, in Niles, Ohio. She was born in Gallipolis, Ohio on October 8, 1940, to the late, Thomas D. and Theda (Martin) Clark. Rebecca met the love of her life, William D. Wohlfarth in the summer of 1961, by September they were engaged, and they were married on February 24, 1962. At the time of his passing, they were married for 38 years. She left this life to reunite with her loving husband again.
Rebecca worked for the Lancaster Eagle Gazette, South Elementary School, and retired from the Fairfield County YMCA Creative Play Preschool. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, where she was very active for many years. She was a member of the M.Z. Krieder Chapter O.E.S, a mother advisor for the Rainbow Girls, a Girl Scout Leader for both of her daughters, Susan and Karen, as well as a volunteer for the Fairfield County Cancer Society. She also was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
She will be remembered for many things, but most of all she was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She created countless memories with her family, always prioritizing their happiness.
Rebecca is survived by her daughters, Susan (Lonnie) Eberhard, and Karen (Mark) Shorts; grandchildren, Joshua W Shorts, Jarrod J Eberhard (Alexis Wedemeyer), Chase (Merina) Eberhard, and Sydney E. Shorts; brother in law, Tirre Fortney; great-granddaughters, Kinsley Wedemeyer, Callie Jane Eberhard, and Clark Mae Eberhard; nieces and nephews, Cathie (Edward) Warner, Richard (Billie) Bininger, Brian Redpath, and Chris Henry; grand nieces and nephews, Bernadette Bininger, Lincoln (Kaylee) Bininger, Casey (Julie) Warner, Carey (Gary) Smeck, Sandy (Will) Sharp, Ann Rhymer, Luke Redpath, Lauren Redpath, August Bininger, and Abby Bininger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Wohlfarth; her parents; sister, Judith L. (Bininger) Fortney, nieces, Sandra L (Bininger) Henry and Patricia A (Bininger) Redpath; and her brother-in-law, Bernard Bininger.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11AM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME, with Judy Hug officiating. A Private Graveside service is to take place following the services. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the FUNERAL HOME.
