Ruth Hoisington

Ruth L. Hoisington, 92 of Lancaster, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior at the Pickering House on December 10th, 2020. Ruth was born in Thornville, Ohio on April 23rd, 1928, and was the youngest daughter of the late Herman and Nellie (Lyle) Long. She graduated from Thornville High School and went to work for the Ohio Power Company in Newark, Ohio, until marrying Edward L. Hoisington in April of 1947. She became a homemaker and together they raised three sons in the Baltimore, Ohio area. In 1968 she went to work for Anchor Hocking and retired from the Order Edit Department. Ruth enjoyed traveling, gardening, and being with her family; where she was best known as the best darned pie baker around.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dana and Glenna, of Baltimore, and Michael and Lana, of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) of Baltimore, Erik (Andrea) of Pickerington, Jon (Cheryl) of Findlay, Lisa (Kylie) Baylor of Lewis Center, Stephanie L (Paul E. Schoonover) Hoisington of Berlin, Ohio, and Thomas L. (Stephanie M.) of Shawboro, NC; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Alice Wagner of Flushing, Ohio; brother-in-law, Wayne Babbs (Mary Hoisington, Deceased) of Lancaster, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, John, Aldona and Tim Kozar of Lancaster.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edward L. Hoisington; son, Thomas L. Hoisington; and sister, Martha (Long) Kaser.

Arrangements are being handled through the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME. At Ruth’s request there will be a private family grave side service with Rev. Steve Rath, of Christ United Methodist Church in Baltimore, Ohio, officiating.

Ruth’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Comfort Care Unit at Fairfield Medical Center and especially to the Pickering House Hospice staff for their compassionate care.

The family suggest memorials be given to FAIRHOPE Hospice (282 Sells Rd Lancaster, OH 43130) in Ruth’s memory.
