Thelma JoAnn Spaun, was born in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Homer Lawrence and Sarah Pierce Lawrence. She was 94 when she passed away on Monday, September 29th. JoAnn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl. She is survived by her children, Sandy (Randy) Williams, Kathy Smith, Gary (Karen) Spaun, and Kelly Craiglow. Her grandchildren are Angie (John) Haning, Nathan Williams, Michael (Kirstyn) Williams, Andrew Smith, Nicholas Smith, Kevin (Audrey) Spaun, Jessica (Scott) Desotell, Eric Craiglow, and Lauren Craiglow. She has 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. JoAnn grew up on 3rd Street in Lancaster with her brother and sisters. She enjoyed riding bicycles, jumping rope and playing jacks. Occasionally, she was able to go to the movies at the Palace Theater on Main Street with her friends. She worked as a waitress at Kresges in downtown Lancaster and then she worked at the RBM Factory. She retired from Lancaster Glass where she was a glass selector. Once she mastered the art of crocheting, JoAnn made some beautiful afghans and even had some entries in the fair. Other activities that she enjoyed were playing bingo and traveling. She had been to Niagara Falls, Washington DC, Pigeon Forge, New York and Florida. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. She had the most wonderful caregivers during this past year, and she cherished her furry friend, Dixie.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday October 3, 2025 at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow at Amanda Twp Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Maple Street United Methodist Church, 438 E. Wheeling St, Lancaster or to FairHoPe Hospice, 282 Sells Rd, Lancaster to honor JoAnn.
