Chris died in the hospital surrounded by loved ones on March 11th 8:11 am after a five-year battle with cancer. Chris was predeceased by his infant son, Finn, and is to be laid to rest with him. Chris is survived by his wife, Joselyn, his dad and mom, Ed and Jane, his sister, Erin, his brother Colin (Kristi), and his two remaining children, Caitlyn and Eagan.
The family thanks the nurses and doctors at Langley Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care throughout his stay.
It feels silly that the summation of an entire rich life is to be chalked up to a page long summary, but that’s just what obituaries are.
Chris was born in Lillooet, B.C. where he lived until moving to Kamloops for University. He met Joselyn there in 1996. In an unofficial first date, they had a plot to hike to the airport with their roommates which concluded in breakfast after a night of watching planes fly overhead and staring up at the stars in all their grandeur. The rest was history for the then young lovers. After some time, they moved to Langley, marrying in 1999, and going on to have three beautiful children.
Throughout his life he fit the shoes of many roles: son, brother, mentor, friend, husband, and in a full circle manner, father. He took a lot of Geology in school, and although he had a successful and fulfilling career as a technology repairman, his heart was always as a Geologist. He spent much time collecting rocks and searching for fossils. His family loved joining him on fossil hunting missions.
Chris was a quiet and calm mannered man, but he had quite the cheeky humour to him, and it was comforting for those who visited in his final days to see that core side of him peek out.
Chris got so much love and joy from his family and pets, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 13 from 12-3pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Langley B.C. (Please wear casual/comfortable clothing and something blue if possible)
