McLEAN, Clarence W. December 19, 1937 - March 3, 2011 With great sorrow we announce that Clarence passed away in Delta. B.C. after a lengthy illness, with his family at his side. He is predeceased by his father Wilson, mother Gertrude and his brother Ralph. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Marlene, children Donna, Stephen, Peggy (Chris) and his beloved grandchildren Charlie, Abby and Lilah. He is also survived by his sister Peggy (Teddy), brother Bob (Jo), and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. Clarence was known at various times in different stages of his life, as Jip, Shakey and Mac. Born in Dominion, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Jip, as he was known then, grew up in a small coal mining town and became a miner for a short period of his life. He then joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served his country for 30 years sailing around the world before he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. During his Navy years he was known to everyone as Shakey. He then worked for the B.C. Liquor Board and was known to all as Mac. When he finally retired he spent many years around the Fraser River talking to everyone he met and enjoying his retirement years. He most especially loved the time he spent with his grandchildren; they always knew he could be counted on for candy, ice cream and a bottle of pop, not to mention a "toonie" now and then. Clarence was forever a "Cape Bretoner" and never forgot his roots and the people he knew when he was growing up. His was a life well lived and he will be greatly missed by many people from various walks of life.
