September 28th, 2021, Jarrett was the victim of a devastating housefire, while spared from the flames, he sustained severe carbon monoxide poisoning resulting in a heart attack before his rescue and resuscitation by the Burnaby B.C. Fire Department responders. After a long month of complications Jarrett’s struggle to survive ended, Jarrett left this life October 28th, 2021.
Jarrett was born in New Westminster B.C. Canada, moving to Spokane WA USA in 1983 where he attended Linwood Elementary, Mead Middle and High Schools, in 2006 Jarrett returned to the Vancouver B.C. area.
Jarrett was predeceased by his grandparents, Clara Burrell, Arlan and Fran Froemming, Jack and Jan Hamlin, his uncle and namesake, Don G. Burrell, his cousins, Dustin Jacobsen, Jeremy Frey, and Andrew Taylor-Eddy.
Jarrett is survived by both his Canadian and American families; his daughter, Tayler, parents, Steve and Joan Hamlin, brother, Christopher Hamlin, sisters, Jennifer Putnam and Kelsey Hamlin, aunts, Jayne Taylor, Judy Jacobsen, and Sherry Peaslee, uncle, Joe Peaslee, cousins, Laura Dennis, Jacque White, Jeanette Bass, Jessica Rennaker, Jo Anna Kemble, Julie Kenney, and his nieces and nephews.
Jarrett’s happy childhood years were filled with his love of family, friends, and fun, enjoying holiday celebrations, vacations and camping trips, baseball, hockey, and soccer. Jarrett measured his value by the love others held for him and while he often lost touch with those he most loved over the years, he always shared how much his memories of these years meant to him, and how these memories helped him in times of difficulty.
The greatest gift Jarrett received in life was the birth of his daughter Tayler, she filled his heart with immense joy. Even though their relationship was interrupted during Tayler’s early years, she later found a way to reconnect with him and they were working towards sharing everything they had missed, this was the second greatest gift Jarrett received.
After returning to B.C. Jarrett endured injury after injury, as well as serious medical crises making his life in general a struggle to survive daily. The reserves of strength and courage he drew upon were both inspired by and inspiring to those who held meaning in his life.
As a young child and throughout his life Jarrett could often be heard saying “my new friend” this applied to those who would remain a part of his life as well as chance encounters with those who shared a gift of simple kindness, compassion, or encouragement with him, If you are one of those people please know you have his families gratitude, as well as the knowledge that because of you Jarrett was always looking for opportunities to share those same gifts with others whose needs he saw as greater than his own.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hendersonslangleyfunerals.com for the Burrell/Hamlin family.
