Earl was born to Rienhard and Anna Mohns (nee Richter) in Hitchcock, Saskatchewan. They moved to Duncan, BC one year later. Earl joined the Royal Canadian Airforce on March 1,1957 and received a Royal Commission by Queen Elizabeth II. He served as an operational navigator for 27 years. Following his years of service in the Canadian Forces he became a management consultant and was employed by the Department of National Defence, ending his career working for Supply Services.
In 1957, while finishing basic training in Winnipeg, MB, Earl met the love of his life, Marian Edith Mold, daughter of Horace and Frances Mold. The two were married on August 30th, 1958, in Winnipeg, MB. They were blessed by God with five children.
Earl is predeceased by his parents Rienhard and Anna, his brothers Fred and Edwin, and sisters Ruth (Peet) and Louise (Roe), sister-in-law Shirley (Hall), daughter in-law Anna (Mohns). He is survived by his dear wife of 67 years, Marian and brother Glen (Marilyn), sister in-law Bernice (Gruenke), his five children, daughter, Wendy (Gilles), grandchildren Mark (Dominique), Matthew (Krista), and Gordon, great grandchildren, Lucas, Liam, Evan, Blake, Alexis, Aiden, Isabel, Olivia, and Gabel; his son, Robert, grandchildren Erik and Justin; his son, James (Kathryn), grandchildren Adam (Chelsey), Amy, Brendan (Ai), great grandchildren Juniper, Charles, and Mabel; his daughter, Susan (Michael), grandchildren James (Ilona), Jonathan (Stephanie), Daryl (Queena), great grandchild Jack; his son Michael (Corinne), grandchildren Christopher, Allan, and Ryan.
We give thanks to God for Earl, a faithful husband, father, grandfather, papa, great grandfather, papa papa, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, peer, and friend. He was baptized into Christ and confirmed his baptismal faith. His confirmation passage from 1 Corinthians 13 best summarizes his life, “These three remain, faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.”
The family is grateful for the many doctors who managed dad’s care over the years and the doctors and healthcare workers at Ridge Meadows Hospital and the McKenney Creek Hospice Residence.
