It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father and Grandfather George. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Georges Greek Orthodox Church 4500 Arbutus Street Vancouver, BC. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC. In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to make a donation to the Children's Hospital or Cancer Foundation.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father and outsanding Grandfather George Pambakos on December 29, 2012 in Langley, B.C.
George was born on June 6,1919 in Piraeus, Greece. He is predeceased by his wife and the love of his life Margarita (nee Katotakis) in 1985. He is survived by his daughter Maria Ursu, (nee Pambakos), son in law Lee Ursu, grandchildren Margarita, Georgie and Lee Maria.
George lived a full life and dedicated his life to his family. In Greece he fought in World War 2 and managed to escape from captivity. In 1949 he married his soul mate Margarita. He became a police officer and was a dedicated and decorated hero in his country. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 and settled in Vancouver, B.C. He became a mechanic and was one that could detect a problem with his ear. He was a very successful entrepreneur and opened up his own business. 4th and Burrard Texaco in Vancouver in 1976. He was a member of St.George Greek Orthodox Church in Vancouver and was a devout follower.
George had a huge heart and an infectious smile. He loved people and he loved life. His heart was huge and he would help anyone in need without questions and without stipulations. He lived his life his way and without regrets. It will be hard to live a life without our Father and Grandfather but just knowing him and having him in our lives was a honor, gift and true blessing. We have the consolation that he has joined our Mother in eternal peace. We love you very much and there will not be one day that you will not be in our minds. The memories are sweet and they will comfort us throughout time. We love you Dad and Papou.
