Gretta Roberta Pearl Shannon

On January 8, 2024 she left those who love her dearly: her daughters, Cynthia (Amelia, Lydia, Sonia, Tavia); Sharon (Matt, Dan, Ryan); Colleen (Briana, Dillon, Juliana, Dawson); and friends Joyce, Arlene, Anne, Joan D, Joan S, among many others. She was predeceased by her sister, Maureen, and is survived by Verna, Norman, and Lyle.

Born in Burnaby, Gretta moved to Ocean Park in the 1940s and made that her home until the 1980s. She worked for many years in the family business in Ocean Park (Shannon Greenhouses) and finished her career as a customer representative for BC Hydro. Gretta loved singing, sewing, knitting, reading, and connecting with her kids and extended family. When she retired, she moved to Osoyoos and shared a home with her sister, Verna, for many years. They returned to Langley in 2019 where she lived in her sunny apartment surrounded by beautiful art.

When asked how they will remember Gretta, her loved ones mention her lively mind, beautiful smile, curiosity about the world, warm hugs, artful knitting skill, and keen interest in keeping up with her grandchildren on social media. She never hesitated to try a new technology. She will be missed by so many family and friends
