Iris Emily Alice Boyd passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on December 13, 2020 at Cedar Hills Care Home in Langley, BC.
Iris is survived by her three sons Darryl (Donna), Peter (Christy) and David; grandchildren John, Michael Brad (Kris), Leanne, Amanda (Harvey), Justin (Jaymie), Jeff (Deanna), Josh and Jacob; great grandchildren Korbyn, Jada, Brody, Kayley, Sofia, Aliyah, Harvey, Bentley and Conner; and extended family Irma, Sheila (Doug) and many more who loved her dearly.
Iris was predeceased by her loving husband of 38 years, Lorne, and her oldest son Fred.
Iris was a real people person. For many years, she taught piano in her home. Her students kept in touch with her even after they grew up because they admired her way of life. Iris attended the White Rock Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and often played the piano. She was also very active in the Friday Friendship group where they made meals for the members and their friends.
Iris loved to knit. She made hundreds of toques for the seamen of the world's ships. The toques were to bring comfort to the men when they were far away from home. They named her 'the toque lady' which made her smile.
Iris had a love of family life. Her family was her world. She would look forward to every Thursday having the family together for dinner and always made sure there was enough food to take home for the grandchildren.
Iris was very involved in her grandchildren's lives. She taught the kids how to drive way before they were even old enough to drive. She let them do laps in the yard. She loved to bake cookies and often had help from her granddaughter. It was one of the their favourite things to do together. She taught the boys how to swing a bat for baseball and was always going to both their hockey and baseball games.
Iris loved Camp Tulahead where her grandchildren attended. Not only did she help with the cooking at the camp, she helped to built it and even helped to shingle the roof.
She modeled her life around the house on the side of the road. Iris was so happy and so content she lived a full life helping her fellow man.
Rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. You will be forever loved and missed by all.
