OBITUARY
Jens Harald Frydenlund
Captain Jens Frydenlund October 26, 1923 - February 18, 2013 "You gotta be lucky to be lucky!" And that he was...Jens Harald Frydenlund, 89, of White Rock, BC, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Peace Arch Hospice. Born in Bremanger, Norway to Leif and Ragna Frydenlund he moved to Canada at the age of two with his family and spent his early years in Maple Creek, SK and Bralorne, BC. He lived most of his adult life in Vancouver and Tsawwassen, and settled in White Rock in 1992. Jens was a quiet man with a dry sense of humour, who enjoyed spending time with family and vacationing in warm destinations. He was a veteran, master seaman, and a commercial fisherman, loving father and proud Norwegian. Jens worked for many years at Ocean Fisheries Ltd. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Margaret (Hutchison) Frydenlund. Jens was extremely loving and proud of his three daughters: Joyce (Ian), Carol and Louise (Doug); his three grandchildren, Brad, Ryan and Raven; and his step-grandchildren Derek and Jeff (Carly). He leaves behind many loving friends, as well as many relatives in Canada, Norway, Scotland and the USA. The family invites friends to join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Henderson's Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser Highway, Langley, BC. No flowers by request. Donations may be made in Jens' name to the BC branch of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. On behalf of Jens, -"tell me more about myself I like it" - we wish to thank the nurses at the Panorama Community Dialysis Unit for all of their loving care, as well as all of his caregivers at Peace Arch Hospital.

So sad to hear about Jens passing. I wish I could find the words to say how sad I was to hear about it from Roy and Tom this morning. It brought back many memories, all good.

I miss you sooo much Pappa. You were warm and sweet and adoring. The best father any girl could ever wish for. Till we meet again....
Down the way where the nights are gay and the sun shines daily on the mountain top...I took a trip on a sailing ship...

I will always treasure my memories of Jens and the good times that we shared! In particular, the summer of 1989 that I spent working on the Alpaca No. 1 with Jens, Alec Vogrig and Jim Riley, a real "Dream Team" of a crew, is, bar none, one of my fondest memories! For me, a wet-behind-the-ears kid of 24, it was a thrill to work with such an seasoned bunch of guys. A little intimidating too! But Jens and the other guys made me feel so welcome on the boat, I didn't want to leave to go back to law school in the fall! Jens was a very special man, and I learned an awful lot from him! I feel very fortunate to have had the priviledge of counting him as one of my friends! My sincere condolences to Margaret and all of the family on Jens' passing! Old friend, you will be missed!

One of a kind. A great father figure to me and a man whose values I have aspired to and who shaped many things in my life.
