Joan was born August 17th, 1954, to Eugene and Dorthy Beck in New Westminster B.C. She was predeceased by her sister Barb and brother Gord. Joni leaves behind her sisters Linda and Eileen. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, Paul, Dena, Andy, Sherri, Carol, Eugene, Danielle, Emily and great nieces Damara and Olive.
Joan started working for the Langley School District over 40 years ago and never left! Even after retiring, Joan went back for more. She loved the people she worked with, worked hard at all the different jobs she tried, and enjoyed all the children immensely. Joan built so many long-lasting friendships along the way.
Joan spent time singing and competing with Sweet Adelines Lions Gate Chorus. She volunteered for the Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, spending time doing bookkeeping, helping at Penny Pinchers and the hospital Gift shop.
Joni loved to read books. She really enjoyed baking, trying out new recipes to share with others. Joni recently started taking acrylic painting “lessons” from her great niece. Joni loved to spend time with all her nieces and nephews, especially taking them to Disneyland. She got a kick out of shocking all the nieces and nephews with her newly pierced nose and dyed purple hair!
Joan was thrilled to be able to retire early and push herself to try new things, jumping on a sea-doo for an ocean ride, parasailing and snorkeling.
Joan was a friendly, thoughtful, compassionate, generous and loyal friend to everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
