She was born Kattie Brkich on the family farm east of Kenaston, Sask. on February 1, 1921 to Mata and Anca. After grade school she became a seamstress and later a bookkeeper. She married Peter Waltz. They would find their way to the B.C. main land and eventually retire there. She enjoyed socializing, singing, playing cards, and just generally staying active. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, her step daughter Louise, and all her nine siblings. She is survived by her nephew Greg Brkich of Calgary, and his wife Diane and their three sons. Also special mention to her very close and good friend Rosa Barkley.
The funeral will take place Friday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Her final resting place will be with her husband at the Gardens of Gethsemani cemetery in Surrey. Kay received excellent care at Langley Lodge for the years that she was there.
