

Born in Saskatoon on November 8, 1938, Lea was the only child of William and Gladys Quinn. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Deryck Bruce Matthews, with whom she shared a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Lea dedicated her professional Iife to education, shaping young minds as a Surrey school teacher until her retirement in 2004, her passion for learning and teaching left a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues.
In retirement, Lea embraced life with enthusiasm and grace. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and the Alpha Rho Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, where she found deep friendships and fulfillment through sisterhood, service, and cultural enrichment. She also gave generously of her time through volunteering. She enjoyed travel and card games, and her lifelong love of books.
Lea's greatest pride was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Kelley (Kevin), sons; Brent (Andrea) and Dale (Ana), her seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Lea's warmth, wisdom, and wit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Langley Seniors Centre, 20605 51B Avenue. Langley, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lea's memory may be made to the Langley Hospice Society or the BC Children's Hospital.
