

Lena Loyie passed away peacefully at Langley Hospice on December 22, 2024, in her 96th year. Born on a farm outside Biggar, Saskatchewan in 1929, she would later move to Penticton in 1943, then to Quesnel in 1968 and finally to Langley, where she lived at Harrison Pointe Assisted Living Residence for her last 7 years.
Lena was predeceased by her parents, Nettie and George Buick, her husband of 64 years, Cecil, her brothers, John and Stan Buick, and her sisters, Mary Buick and Ruby Walker.
She will be missed by daughter Betty Hesketh (Penticton), son Arthur (Dawn) Loyie (Langley) and family, grand-daughter, Sabrina McMillan (Kelowna), sister, Lil (Clarence) Heinrich (Penticton), many great grandchildren, great greatgrandchildren and other family members and friends.
Lena loved crafts of all sorts, painting, gardening, baking and volunteering at the Quesnel Salvation Army Food Bank before she left for Assisted Living in Langley, BC. She loved her faith and time with family.
Many thanks to the staff of Harrison Pointe who took such good care of Lena during her last 7 years. Also, many thanks to the staff at Langley Memorial Hospital during her several admissions over the past 5 months.
She was very fortunate to be able to reach end of life in Langley Hospice where care went above and beyond. Doctors, nurses, care aides, and volunteers were kind, caring and attentive to the end.
