Our deepest sympathy to the family of Max.  While we weren’t close in our adult years, I so admired him when we were kids.  I remember going into the barn on the old Convent grounds and being amazed by his model train.  It was huge and beautifully detailed.  I was in awe of the care he took with it.  That caring and the kindness he learned from his wonderful Dad & Mom and in turn made  a very lovely man.  He was always kind to me and my 6 other siblings, even if maybe he secretly thought we were a pain in the butt.  I know he will be sadly missed by his entire family.  Thanks to his sister Tami for arranging a visit with him and Wanda a few years ago, it was so enjoyable to get caught up with his life and see that he hadn’t changed in all these years.

There were 14 of us that worked in Pumps & Controls for the City of Surrey. We could've easily been cast offs from the Island of Misfit toys, we did have good times together.
Max and I became working partners for a number of years and enjoyed each others company,  he wasn't a difficult person to work with.
When i think of Max, the following comes to mind:
Always combed his hair leaving the truck
Wearing sunglasses
Loved using high lighter pens
Loved his astrology and horoscopes
Give him a cup of coffee and a smoke and he was happy.
Not big on time- there was regular time and there was Max time.
Pride and joy were his kids
Easy going, kind and considerate
Thanks for sharing a work van and being a friend Max.


My sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of Max, he was a very kind and gentle soul, and a pleasure to work with.
He had such a inner peace about him that translated to everyone who came into contact with him,he was also an accomplished musician in his earlier life as I remember having many conversations about guitars and music with him over the years.

I worked with Max for many years and always enjoyed his company. Max had such an easy gong manner about him at work and off the job. He was very well like by me and the other members of the crew. At work he did his job without any complaints. Max always treated others in a very respectable way and always had a welcoming smile. I think that Max will be missed by all that knew him, I am very saddened by his passing.  Bill Davidson

Dear Max I know our lives took very different paths very desperate from one another...but I truly hope you found love again and your life was filled with happiness and joy. I'm sure there was so much life would have brought you but you passed away all too soon. Your children and grand children  will miss you beyound words  and with time the sorrow wll be replaceď with fond memories and bring smiles to their faces and fill their hearts with joy that will last them their  lifetime. You were a very talented man and I'm sure your family and extended family will do you proud.   You touched so many lives and so many were lucky to know you. Wanda was so lucky to have you in her life. You must have been so tired rest in peace.

Have you ever met someone and you can feel their kindness through their words. Thats what Opa was: kind. He was always giving advice about vitamins or vehicles or whatever he thought might be useful or interesting to you. But the one thing I remeber most, is that no matter what the conversation was about, he always gave you his full attention. He made you feel heard. Not many people do that nowadays which was a nice feeling. Tessa, please know that our prayers are with you and your family as you cope with the loss of one of the great pillars in your life. I can only hope that with time your memories of him will be enough to hold up the walls of the hole his departure has left. We have only great memories of Opa. He will be missed.
