Pat was born in 1941 in Edmonton, Alberta to Ruth and Heinz Weibelzahl. The only daughter and oldest to five brothers who she loved dearly; Ted (Pat), Jim (Patrice), Dick
(Alyson), Chris (Sandy), and Glen (Tammy). Pat attended Burnaby South High School where she made lifelong friends and met her husband Ian Roger Hagemoen. Pat and Ian married in January 1962 and became parents to their daughter Louise (Don) followed by son David (Lisa). Pat and Ian spent 47 memorable years together until his passing in 2009.
Always up for an adventure, Pat enjoyed a long career as a travel agent which allowed her to see the wonders of the world. Pat and Ian had an eventful life at home raising their family in Surrey, operating a blueberry farm with a variety of animals in Chilliwack, and spending time living in Britannia Beach and Parksville. Pat moved to Abbotsford in 2011 where she remained an active community member planning ladies lunches, potlucks, being part of the strata council, and attending Friday cocktail hour. Pat enjoyed walks around Mill Lake with her sheltie Mitzi, who she sadly leaves behind; one of her many sheltie companions throughout the years. Fiercely independent and determined to live life to the fullest, Pat enjoyed recent travel, planning events with her friends and trying new things.
Pat was also an incredible cook, often putting together gourmet meals for herself and others. If you were lucky, a meal from Pat ended with her delicious baking, including her famous Norwegian Horseshoe cookies.
Pat’s greatest joy was her family who she always expressed gratitude for, spending time with them and watching them grow. She enjoyed visiting Rail Lake with David and Lisa and cheering on the BC Lions with them.
Pat spent many Sundays and holidays at family dinners with Louise and Don. They also traveled together, recently going on an Alaskan cruise.
She was a very proud, loving, and involved Grandmother to Krista (Will), Kayleigh (Calvin), Megan, and Jenna. She was thrilled to have recently welcomed her first Great Grandchild -Benjamin, whom she adored. She showed up at every recital, graduation, birthday, and important event. Her presence will be forever missed in future milestones.
Pat’s life touched many people, and in turn she was loved by many. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Pat will be honoured with a Celebration of Life at Northview Golf & Country Club in Surrey on March 11, 2023 at 12 pm. (6857 168 St Surrey) In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the CKNW Kids’ Fund.
