Phyllis Mae Jocelyn

Remaining to cherish Phyllis’ memory are her nephews, Edward Bickford (Roshy), Howard Bickford (Karen), her niece Marg Mithrush (Rod Butler), her many great nieces and nephews and also five great great nieces. Preceding Phyllis in death were her husband Barry Jocelyn, brother Charles English and sister Margaret Bickford.

Phyllis was born on August 18th, 1932 in Chilliwack BC, the daughter of Frederick and Wilhelmina English.

Phyllis’ 20s and 30s were notable for her proficiency at the sport of harness racing and at the time she was one of only a few women who participated in these races as a driver. Phyllis’ love for horses continued throughout her life and over the years she and husband Barry raised many standardbred horses at their farm in Langley.

Phyllis’ career included office and bookkeeping work for several organizations including the Surrey Leader newspaper, where she met Barry and Rogers Cable, where she retired from in 1993.

A graveside service will take place at Surrey Centre Cemetery on July 15th, 2025 at 11am.
