Raymond Osmond GEMMILL
March 20, 1930 – July 31, 2019

GEMMILL-RAYMOND OSMOND of Surrey, BC (Cloverdale) and formerly of Cobden, Ontario, passed away
peacefully in the Surrey Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in
his 90th year.
He is survived by his children Raeann Gemmill, Rebecca Gemmill, Susan Green, Angela (Bill) Evers and Tracey (Ramon) Fresneda, his step-sons Alan, Brian, Derek and Ian Moyes, his brother Wally (Muriel) Gemmill and his sister Isabelle Dunlop. Also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife Helen, his brothers Jack Gemmill and Pat Gemmill, and most recently, his son, Bill Gemmill.
Ray retired from harness racing a few years ago; he had been a huge part of Fraser Downs/Cloverdale Raceway since 1974. He trained many successful horses over the years and also ran an on-track feed business for 25 years. Of late, he could be seen around Cloverdale on his scooter making his way to the backstretch to play cards with the boys. Ray had a long, colourful life and enjoyed entertaining at any opportunity. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Surrey, BC (Cloverdale) on Saturday, September 21st at 2pm at the Homestretch overlooking Fraser Downs at Elements Casino. At the request of the venue, RSVP’s are appreciated by September 15, 2019 to [email protected]
A graveside service will be held in Cobden, Ontario on Saturday, October 5th at 3pm at the Cobden Union Cemetery.
