René met his life partner, Regula, in the brass band in their hometown of Thalwil, Switzerland. Married in 1966, they settled in Canada with their two sons, Markus and Richard.
A long-term employee of BC Hydro, René enjoyed inventing and fixing all things. A sensitive father, he was always curious, playful and possessed a good sense of humour. He loved outdoor adventures with the family, camping, and spending time at the cabin on Hornby Island. He also liked cultivating various plants, especially his orchids.
The family is having a small private gathering to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice to help make the world a better place.
