‘Papa’ leaves our world peacefully for heaven, his eternal resting place. He was lovingly married to Patricia (Pat) Deacon (nee Wood) for 52 years. Survived by his two children; Alison and Richard (Mary-Ann) and his sister Linda Morrison (Bill) and nieces Claire and Ruth. He was a beloved papa to his adoring grandchildren Julianna, Jackson, Reston and Parker. He leaves behind his sister in law Christine Munier (Louis 1943-2008) of Holland.
Predeceased by his parents Ron + Clair Deacon.
Born in the small town of Reston, Manitoba on his father's birthday. Jim and Linda grew up in Brandon, Yorkton, and Prince George.
Jim graduated as a charter student of Simon Fraser University. Pat and Jim have been residents of Fort Langley since 1972. Fort Langley provided them with a lovely place to raise their children and a close knit community of friends. Jim was famous for his love of cooking, collection of wine, passion for reading, telling a good joke, crosswords and his mediocre golf game. He was committed to a regimented daily fitness routine, being a master at tinkering in his workshop and always lending a hand to anyone in need.
Jim met Pat in 1967 on her first day in Vancouver from Yorkshire, England and immediately fell for the lass. Jim dedicated his career in education as a teacher, vice principal and principal in the Surrey school district. As an educational leader he was known to be firm, fair and always willing to go the extra mile with his students or staff.
Friends and family were deeply shocked by Jim’s sudden passing. Jim lived a very full and humble life and was always there to show compassion to others and lend a hand any way he could. Our small family remembers our dad and Papa as a supportive, kind and incredibly giving soul.
May heaven welcome you with open arms Papa, your hugs, laughter and love will forever be with us until we meet again. Donations in lieu of flowers to the BC Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.
A virtual memorial will be available for any friends , family or those wanting to pay respects at 11am on December 19 via https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwucuqvqDMuHNHFYicKDRAzRH_Aju0ASXeF. A small private cremation ceremony will take place at the Fort Langley cemetery.
