He passed away peacefully, in the early hours of March 26th, 2026, after a short, courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Shawn’s strength and bravery in the face of such adversity was awe inspiring and a thing to marvel. He was surrounded by his family.
Shawn was born December 14th, 1965, at St Mary’s Hospital in New Westminster, B.C.
Shawn worked for many years as a Longshoreman (ILWU Local 502). In the past couple years, he worked as a metal fabricator at Pacific Enclosures.
Growing up, Shawn was an avid sportsman, skiing and playing soccer, however, his real passion and talent was baseball. He played throughout the 70’s and early 80’s for Kennedy Surrey Little League. He held a lifelong passion and was extremely talented in restoring old vehicles and was in the process of completing his truck when he passed. Shawn worked with his hands and was always good at it!
Remaining to cherish Shawn’s memory is his father, Jack, brother, Jay and sister, Dawn (Dave) and the apples of his eye, nieces, Devan and Drew, along with his many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. Shawn was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Diell, Grandparents, John and Jean Labinsky and Donald and Jessie Diell.
