

Stella was born March 27, 1930 in Smoky Lake, Alberta, the youngest and ninth child of Andrew and Elena Chahley.
Stella especially loved her family and serving others. She was an expert knitter, seamstress, gardener, and genealogist. She loved reading and music and found joy in keeping in touch with people she had met throughout her life. She was known for her sincere empathy and compassion and cheerful disposition.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many different responsibilities with youth, women and children. She served a full time mission to the Family History Centre in Salt Lake City.
She lived in Edmonton, Saskatoon, Westbank and Coquitlam, Abbotsford and Langley. She trained as a nurse in Edmonton and worked later in life as a secretary in accounting firms. She also boarded university students for many years while raising her family.
Remaining to cherish Stella's memory are her two daughters Lenore Erekson (Erek) and Cheryl Leavitt (Tom) and 11 grandchildren: Rachel Erekson, Liz (Mike) Dunne, Sarah (Max) DeZutter, James (Juliet) Erekson, Kristen Erekson, Alison Erekson, Sommer-Lee (Jeremy) Miller, Jesse (Emily) Leavitt, Lindsay (Maddie) Leavitt, Jordan (Carson) Leavitt and Ashley (Andrew) Cuckow. She had 21 great-grandchildren. She also will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, inlaws, and friends.
Stella was preceded in death by her husband William Gordon Watt, two children Barbara Alison and William Andrew, her four brothers John, Steve, George and Peter, and her four sisters Venus, Wasylena, Mary and Alice.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 22 at Templeview Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 20370 82 Ave, in Langley at 12pm. We will also send out a zoom link for those who want to attend the service virtually. All are invited to attend and remember her. There will be a luncheon following. Stella will be interred in Saskatoon in the family plot.

The family would like to thank Kayleen Mazerolle, Marjorie Sambaan and all of the lovely Fraser Valley home health workers. We also appreciated the compassionate and excellent care she received at Ridge Meadows Hospital on the last day of her life.
