OBITUARY

William David (Dave) Radbourne

April 7, 1939 – February 22, 2024
Obituary of William David (Dave) Radbourne
IN THE CARE OF

Henderson's Langley Funeral Home

Dave, aged 84 years, passed away peacefully at Langley Hospice on Thursday, February 22, 2024. He will be missed, and lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Edith (nee Bitcon), daughter Karen Dyck (Miles), son Kevin (Christina), two granddaughters Brittany and Rachael Dyck, and many other family members and friends.

Dave was born on April 7, 1939 to parents Thomas (Tommy) and Phyllis Radbourne in New Westminster, BC. He fondly remembered growing up in New Westminster where he participated in scouts, air cadets, earned his solo pilots licence, and began his interest in stamp collecting. He moved to North Vancouver, BC after his marriage to Edith (nee Bitcon) in 1965, where they spent 50 happy years before moving to Langley, BC.

Dave was a family man at heart with a wonderful sense of humor, and a great desire to help others however he could. He was a long standing member of the Presbyterian church willing to step in and help where needed. He enjoyed several years of curling and then thoroughly enjoyed being involved with his children’s many different sports (figure skating, hockey, ringette, competitive swimming, diving,

water polo, etc.). His most exciting and busy times were coaching Ringette. Over the many years of coaching, he had teams from 6 year olds all the way up to having a ladies team comprised mainly of the player’s mothers.

Dave also loved watching his grandchildren grow, encouraging and supporting them in whatever they were interested in at the time. He especially loved taking family trips with them, and was always up for a board game or card game.

As Dave got older, although not fully retired, he always found time to take car trips, bus tours and many cruises. Cruising was his favorite type of vacation, and many great friendships were made on board ship. After retirement Dave’s interests led him to take painting classes which he enjoyed, as well as playing snooker with friends. During COVID he became quite addicted to doing jigsaw puzzles, which continued up until recently.

Dave will long be remembered by those who knew him. His jovial nature will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at Langley Presbyterian Church, 20867 44 Avenue, Langley on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, in Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Langley Hospice Society, 20660 48th Avenue, V3A 3L6, or a charity of your choice.
