All whom he touched will agree that Al was a unique, warm hearted individual. Al had a keen sense of humor and loved to write poetry. He spent his youth in DeWitt on the family farm raising a goat herd. In his senior years he would be known in his residential Lansing neighborhood for walking his pet goat ?Billy?. Alfred had a theocratic, entrepreneurial and creative personality. He and Shirley, made their Christian faith a central part in their lives. The Buchner?s years as a young couple found them in the full time ministry work with Jehovah?s Witnesses. They had the unique privilege of helping build from an early stage what is now an International Organization of over 8 million ministers. During his secular career, Al found success in painting, decorating, and real estate. Alfred is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley, daughter Lynne, son Erich, grandson Gabriel, sister Lilly Waldren and many other relatives, nieces and nephews.
