Amanda Katherine Garcia

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Amanda Katherine Garcia (nee Martin) on Thursday February 27, 2025, at the age of 44 with her loving family by her side. She was born December 12, 1980, to Rose Spagnuolo and Marvin Martin. Amanda left a positive mark on this world. She loved to help other people. To her family and friends, she was cherished. Amanda celebrated all of their successes big or small and appreciated the love and caring they gave back. She loved to travel - especially to northern Michigan to enjoy the outdoors. She had a special fondness for rescue dogs and adopted several. Her employment at the local Meijer stores spanned 25 years. While there, she demonstrated leadership, problem solving and reliability. Many within her work community became family.

Amanda is survived by her loving husband Rudy and their son Alejandro; her parents, Rose and Sam Curtis; siblings Sondra and Joshua (Kaitlyn) Curtis; maternal Grandmother Mary Spagnuolo; maternal Uncle Tony (Juli) Spagnuolo and Aunt Angie (Jim) Tasiopoulos; Rudy’s siblings Alicia (Tyrone) Ingram, Lidia (Chad) Bachman, Johnny (Lee) Garcia, Paco (Sally) Valdez, Maribel (Greg) Garcia, Gilbert (Gloria) Garcia, Elisas Garcia and Stella Garcia; as well as several nieces and nephews all with whom she had a special bond. Amanda was preceded in death by her father Marvin Martin and his wife Dora; and maternal grandfather Antonio Spagnuolo.

Amanda’s family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at U of M Sparrow Medical Oncology and Infusion Office for their care during her cancer treatments.

A celebration of Amanda’s life will be planned for a future date.
