Arnold Edison Cooper

Arnold Edison Cooper passed away October 1, 2019 at the age of 87. He was born August 25, 1932 in Dyersburg, TN, the son of Marion and Verdie (Porch) Cooper. He was retired from General Motors and a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War. Arnold loved being outside, especially his flowers and garden. He loved reading, especially his Bible and devotionals. He was a member of Capitol City Baptist Church. Everyone he met was an instant friend. He was a very giving person and would help others before himself. He loved his dogs, Angel, Betsy, and Heidi. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his brothers, James "Glen" (Pat) Cooper, Lester (Gloria) Cooper, Alton (Dolly) Cooper; sister-in-law, Lorraine Cooper; life partner, Suzanne; children, Raetta (Lee), Rebecca (Nick), Edward, Robin, Eric (Andrea); former wife, Johanna; grandchildren, Christina, Heather, Eric Jr., Brandon, Nicole, Joanna, Trisha, Josh, Caitlin (Joey), Jordan; step-children, Kim (Kevin) and Travis (Marianne); step-grandchildren, Hunter (Erin), Blade, Kameron, Ezra, Lennon, Emma, Anna, Isaac, Sutton, Jude; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lemuel "Paul" Cooper.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Capitol City Baptist Church, 5100 W. Willoughby Rd., Holt. Visitation will be at the church from 6-8pm on Friday and from 10-11am Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
