Audrey grew up in Lansing, Michigan, and attended Sexton High School. On 04/07/1951 in Lansing, MI, she married James Hardin, beginning a devoted partnership that remained a defining part of her life and legacy.
Audrey will be remembered with deep respect for the steady faith that shaped her days and the care she extended to others. Many knew her as a prayer warrior—someone whose willingness to pray for you was not occasional, but constant, sincere, and freely given. She loved to read the bible and to pray for others, offering comfort in a way that was quiet, enduring, and profoundly meaningful.
She also found joy in the simple, faithful rhythms of home and family life. Audrey loved quilting, gardening, and puzzles, and she was best known for her cooking—an expression of warmth and generosity that brought people together. She also cherished her pet Chihuahua, Baby Girl.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, James Hardin; her sons, Terry Hardin and Nathan Hardin; her grandson, Jimmy Hardin; her granddaughter, Kristi Lynn Hardin Brooks; her great-granddaughter, Kiera Bullen; her father, William Long; her mother, Anna Mae Walker; and her sisters, Irma Totten and Evelyn O'Connor.
She is survived by her daughters, Debra Bitner and Rebecca Buck; her son, James Hardin; and her sister, Ellen Ohmer.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15th at 10:00 am at the Capitol City Baptist Church, located at 5100 W. Willoughby Rd., Holt, MI 48842. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 11:00 am.
Immediately following the funeral service will be the committal at Deepdale Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 4108 Old Lansing Rd., Lansing, MI 48917.
