

Barbara was born September 24, 1931 in Jackson, Michigan to Rudolph F. and (Mary) Helen (Wright) Schultz and baptized October 18, 1931. Barbara spent her early years in Jackson and Birmingham, Michigan. Her family moved to Lansing when she was in junior high. She attended Walter French Junior High and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1949. She did office work until her marriage to Frank Caterino of Eaton Rapids, on May 6, 1950. She was a loving mother to 6 rambunctious children. After her children grew up, Barbara returned to office work, spending many years at Liskey's in Lansing.
Barbara was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church, now St. Luke's Christ Campus, where she was confirmed and married and where her children were baptized and confirmed. Barbara's artistic side showed up in her sewing, drawing, and painting. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, and watching the birds at the bird feeders. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her young family at the cottage in Cadillac, she just didn't want anything to do with cleaning and preparing the fish the family caught. Christmas was a special time to gather family together, Barbara loved watching the kids interact together. She enjoyed listening to her family talk about their memories growing up. Cracker Barrel was her favorite place to go for her birthday. Barbara was an avid Genealogist, researching her family connections. She spent many years working with her son, David chasing clues (before the internet) in person at churches, cemeteries, and public records, as well as many letters to extended family.
Barbara is survived by a son, Daniel (Deb) Caterino of Bradenton, FL; Daughters, Anna (Robert) Hines of Mankato, MN and Mary (Kees) Beukema of Haslett; Daughter-in-law, Barbara Caterino of Reed City; Sister Virgina (Gary) Wilson of Leslie; Sister-in-law, Evelyn Schultz of Bath; 16 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; And several nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her Parents; Sister, Margaret Beedy; Brother, Rudolph D. Schultz Sr.; Sons, David Caterino, Matthew Caterino Sr., and Jonathan Caterino; Nephews, Rudolph D. Schultz Jr. and Jerry Wilson.
