

Bettie was married in April 1943, and her marriage of 55 years stood as a lasting testament to devotion, commitment, and the steady strength of a life built on love. Above all else, she loved her family more than anything, and that deep affection was the guiding center of her days. Her radiant personality, warm heart, and enduring strength are an inspiration to all who are blessed to know her.
Bettie's independence and zest for life are evident in her accomplishments, including driving well into her 97th year. Together with her late husband, she embraced adventure - camping, traveling, and building memories defined by joy, curiosity, and the company of those she cherished. She loved to go out for her favorite cuisine: Mexican food!
Bettie exemplified kindness, generosity, and a genuine love for people. Her devotion to others is reflected in her lifelong role as caregiver, supporting family, friends, and anyone in need. Known affectionately as the favorite aunt, grandmother, and friend, she has been a source of comfort, laughter, and guidance to countless individuals across generations.
A faithful member of Lansing Seventh Day Adventist church, Bettie’s life reflected the quiet dignity of enduring faith and the comfort of belonging to a church community.
Bettie is survived by her daughter, Bernice Turpening; her brother, Ernie (Ruth) Timko; her Nephew, Paul (Margaret) Timko; as well as nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Dawn Turpening; her mother and father, Julius and Rose Timko; her three sisters; and her three brothers.

A Committal service will be held at Delta Center Cemetery on July 6th at 11:00 am, located at 7301 W. St. Joseph Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917
