

Carl dedicated his career to the field of electronics, spending 26 years as a radar technician with the Federal Aviation Administration. Prior to that, he served as the chief electronics technician at Sparrow Hospital and held positions at Bendix Missile Systems, the Lansing Board of Water and Light, Burroughs Corporation, and Spartan Electronics. His expertise in electronics was widely recognized throughout his career.
Before embarking on his civilian career, Carl served in the United States Air Force for four years as a radar technician. His time in the military helped shape his lifelong passion for technology and communication.
Carl married the love of his life, Ferne Preston, and they shared 39 wonderful years together. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with ham radios, a passion he pursued since the age of 14.
He is survived by his wife, Ferne Preston; stepdaughter Dawn Morley; grandson Dillon McConnell; and brother Richard (Nancy) Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Paul Preston; stepdaughter Heather McConnell; and sister Pauline (Don) Phillips.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the employees of MediLodge for their compassionate care.
