Catherine Taliaferro

Catherine Marie Taliaferro, 93, passed away January 2, 2012. She descended from a long line of Medical Doctor/Nursing Irishmen. She was born February 11, 1918 in Columbus, GA to Dr. Bernard and Birdetta Fitzmorris.

She graduated from Portland High School in 1937. She continued friendships with many of her Portland classmates through her life. She also had many friends in Lansing, where her 5 children grew up.

Husband, Thomas A. Taliaferro, Sr., predeceased her in 2001. Survivors include brother, Dr. Andrew O. (Dorothy) Fitzmorris of Palm Springs, CA; 5 children, Thomas A. (Ruth) Taliaferro, Jr., Douglas J. (Randy) Taliaferro, Terry M. (Pamela) Taliaferro, Dr. Cathy E. (Tim) Earl, and Ruth L. (Paul) Rowe; 13 grandchildren, Kim (John) St. Martin, Richard (Christina) Taliaferro, Sean Taliaferro, Marcus (Stasi) Earl, Pamela (Scott) Penny, Daniel (Stephanie) Taliaferro, Andrew Taliaferro, Michael (Andrea) Taliaferro, Brian Taliaferro, Jennifer (Clay) Cumiskey, Paul Rowe, Nicholas Rowe, and Kristy Rowe. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday, January 6, 2012 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 7, 2012 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing with Fr. Pieter VanRooyen officiating. Interment will be in Portland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Catherine?s name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society Store. The family is being served by Tiffany Funeral Home.
